Abstract

Transformative learning is critical for developing medical student characters. The ultimate goal is to transform the student characters leading to lifelong happiness and work success. This study examined the effects of applying Faculty of Medicine Naresuan University Transformative Learning (NUTL) approach to develop medical student characters (emotional intelligence and mindfulness). A quasi-experimental pre-post quantitative design was used, followed by focus group discussion qualitative research. This research was conducted in all third year medical students of Faculty of Medicine, Naresuan University, academic year 2013 while studying Humanized Medicine course and gave informed consents. Results were presented in frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and narrative contents. The scores of emotional intelligence and mindfulness before and after the course were compared by paired t-test. The results showed that the overall emotional intelligence score after learning was significantly higher than before learning (3.21 ± 0.24, 3.16 ± 0.31, p < 0.001), especially the elements of self-control, compassion for others and social responsibility. The level of mindfulness score after learning was significantly higher than before learning (3.51 ± 0.45, 3.37 ± 0.40, p < 0.001). In conclusion, the NUTL approach is an effective teaching strategy for developing medical student characters especially mindfulness and emotional intelligence.

การเรียนรู้เพื่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงมีความสําคัญต่อการพัฒนาคุณลักษณะ นิสิตแพทย์โดยมุ้งเป้าท่ีความสุข ความสําเร็จของชีวิตและงาน การวิจัยแบบ quasi-experimental pre-post และการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ ด้วยการสนทนากลุ่มนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเปรียบเทียบคะแนนระดับความฉลาดทาง อารมณ์และสติของ นิสิตแพทย์ก่อนและหลังการเรียนที่เน้นกระบวนการเรียนรู้เพื่อการเปลี่ยนแปลง ศึกษาในนิสิตแพทย์ ช้ันปีท่ี 3 คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยนเรศวร ปีการศึกษา 2556 ทุกคนท่ียินยอมเข้าร่วมการวิจัย ในรายวิชาการแพทยท์ ที่มีความเป็นมนุษย์ นําเสนอข้อมูลด้วยความถี่ ค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ค่าเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน
